The Free CLE Just Keeps on Coming
Clifford Law Offices getting in on the "accredited CLE provider in Illinois" action:
Clifford Law Offices, an approved continuing legal education provider in Illinois, is hosting its first webinar 3-5 p.m., Feb. 21.
“The Ethics of Trial Work” presented by Northwestern University School of Law Professor Robert P. Burns offers two hours of professionalism credit in Illinois. The program will be interactive via the web and is free to all Illinois attorneys who register. Click here to register.
Interesting...I understand the law schools and pro bono places giving it away; but why does a private firm do free CLE??

Do you have any suggestions for free or low-cost IL MCLE between now and the 2009 reporting deadline at the end of the month? Thanks!
To answer your question "Why does a private firm give away CLE?" one answer might be that there are benefits to letting some outside lawyers in for the training.
It's a great chance to network, to meet others in the legal community interested in the subject matter, maybe do a little recruiting, maybe do a little marketing, maybe just grease the wheels of social intercourse that can avoid future problems.
IIRC in Washington state a private firm who wants to do in-house house training has an easier time getting credit approved if the program is open-to-add-comers, although I don't remember the details.
One other note: I stumble across this post while googling for content for http://4freeCLE.blogspot.com I was only a month or two to late to post, but if you send me more similar items I'll be happy to put them up, and give credit to your blog w/a link. Network, network, network ;-)
